It's called "Fibrations" and as the name implies, it's all about fibres of all sorts..I haven't been to the other sales but I'm thinking that it''s knitting, weaving, spinning and crocheting... and that means potential customers attending will be there to see what I have on offer...
I'm looking forward to having a booth under or next to a tree in an orchard, cool grass and interested buyers..it's been really deadly hot here and the Markets have been badly attended because of it..
Also nice to be among other fibre creators...

Actually, it was the worst disaster ever for a "craft" fair...didn't want to write about it, but you both asked so here goes...
ReplyDeleteLessons learned:
1) Pick your venues carefully..I hesitated at first because this event seemed like more of a craftspersons' supplies fair..which, it turned out, it was...
2) Follow your own intuition...because I thought this might be what was happening, I should NOT have even bothered...but then I analyse everything to death, and thought what the heck, maybe I'm worng...turned out, painfully, expensively, that I wasn't wrong...
I sold absolutely nothing that day, and had to fight off people who were surreptitiously trying to take pictures of my work and go home and copy it, even after I asked, nicely, for them not to...
People kept asking me for patterns, and getting mad when I said I had none...I don't even know how to read a pattern, am totally self taught, and ,my designs are ones I make up myself...but many didn't believe me!
It was a long ways away from where I live, and I had to haul all my stuff across a field, park about three blocks away, and was there by myself so many, many hours with no food, no bathroom breaks, etc...all things that anyone with any sense would check out ahead of time...word to the wise...
Ah well, sometimes you win, sometimes not..
